Scott Pilgrim Is A Movie

August 16, 2010

Aside from being a comic book, Scott Pilgrim is a movie.  The movie is a separate entity than the comics.  The movie is a great comedy/action movie that feels like Manga brought to life.  It also uses fighting game cliches and indie music.  I enjoyed it.  It had a couple great dramatic moments, like when Scott dumped Knives, and Ramona leaving Scott.  I could relate to those moments quite well, I felt for them, as I’ve been there.

I already saw it twice, not like I was trying to, but I had 2 chances to see it, and I said yes both times.

The comic however, is different.  I can curl up with it and it’s intimate to me, it’s a special series, I feel it strongly.  It’s an amazing series.  It’s about more than just love and beating the exs to me.  It’s about trying to belong and find happiness.   It’s about trying to get past yourself and being a better person.  It’s still about love and action, but.. just something about it feels true to me, I’m still going to bust out my copies of it years from now.

I Still Hate Clash Of The Titans

April 28, 2010

It’s been.. a month or so since I saw that movie.

My soul still burns from the horror of watching it.

I thought the acting was somewhere around horrible, the writing was utter shit.  Almost every line in the movie was cringe-worthy and delivered with so much seriousness and rage, but not enough to make it a comedy.  The action scenes were so poorly shot I couldn’t tell what the fuck was going on.  Character interactions made no sense.  As Perseus is trying to defy Zeus who is giving him gifts?  Even though he could have before?  Then Perseus and Daddy Zeus have a sudden reconciliation off-screen and they defeat Hades with their powers combined?  The plot was shit, the action was shit, the acting was shit and this is OBJECTIVELY, they were all poorly done.  Taking taste into account?  So much worse.

Anyone who enjoyed that wreck is a horrible person and is part of the reason why American Idol is popular.

I Drink Your Milkshake!

February 13, 2010

I have been waiting all day to shout “I drink your milkshake!” but much to my dismay, not a single person I see has a milkshake handy.  Don’t they understand that I can’t be satisfied without their milkshake?

This is why friends are horrible, none of them can tell that I suddenly had that line from “There Will Be Blood” stuck inside my head.  I almost ordered a milkshake at Dairy Queen, just so I could hand it to someone, steal it back and shout “I Drink your milkshake!” at them.  Instead I got a Blizzard with truffles in it.  I think it made me sick, but it was as amazing as it sounds.  I don’t feel bad about eating it at all.

I can’t even remember too much about “There Will Be Blood”, I can remember it being good, and the line I keep repeating, the jarring music, and that it was fairly fucked up.  I am not sure if I want to see it again any time soon, but I want to say the line again soon.
